Magic and merriment filled the Willamette Valley this day as

good faeries of all sorts gathered to celebrate at FaerieWorlds in the

shadow of Mount Pisgah.

Now that’s more like it! Here And Now Photo Art is about color and beauty, if nothing else. But there is so much more.

These three lovely faeries gathered in front of the McDonald Theater, Eugene, OR for the Faerieworlds Winter Celebration Ball. This shot has always been one of my favorite images of those magical winter nights in 2010. That faerie dust is potent stuff! Just when I recover, the Faerieworlds Summer Celebration has come around. To Mount Pisgah, Faerieworlds has come!

Here And Now Photo Art is a blind man’s vision of the world through art and technology. Born blind at birth due to congenital cataracts, I underwent many operations over decades which restored a measure of my sight. If it’s July in the¬† Willamette Valley, it must be rodeo time!¬† July 1-4 the Eugene Pro Rodeo is in town at the Oregon Horse Center with its nationally-ranked and local cowgirls and cowboys, quality rodeo stock, fireworks in and above the arena, and post-rodeo dances.¬† Don’t even get me started on the elephant ears!¬† Thursday’s photos will be up soon, but in the meantime, let her buck!

Looking like escapees from a time machine, one classic vehicle after another rumbled into its place in the line waiting to enter the Bethel Boosters Show and Shine.  From the head of the line backward, each car, motorcycle and truck was testimony to their owners’ dedication and affection.  Each engine, in turn, purred with self-satisfaction.

Jim and David from Here And Now Photo were positioned to capture the moments when these beauties and their owners rolled into the exhibit area at Willamette High School.  We snapped some great shots of the proud “parents” as they prepped their cars, interacted with the inquisitive public, and accepted their awards.  The mild mid-May day gave its own warm blessing on the 11^th annual fundraising event to benefit students at local schools, which was a nice change from last year’s liquid sunshine.

Throughout the day, there was a friendly air in pockets of enthusiasts throughout the event.  This was in no small part due to the emcee, who was part of the cool folks from Kool 99.1 FM; they kept the music and commentary going all day long!  To the Kool 99.1 folks, and to the generous volunteers who organized and hosted this fun event, thanks for a fun and entertaining day! 

Overall, there were just too many spectacular rides to count.  It was a gas (sorry about that) talking with the owners, mechanics and restorers.  Conversation is never so easy as when both parties are passionate about the same subject.  And looking across the parking lots at row after row of gleaming pristine beauties, we could understand their enthusiasm.  As it infected us, we were inspired to capture some of the great images that the Bethel Boosters Show and Shine gathered, and that we present here.
